When we first saw this home, we fell in love with its spacious layout.  Additionally, it was clear that the previous owners took good care of the home, and I like to think that we have as well.  It seems much more solidly built than many of the other new renovations and has retained a great deal of its old features and detailing for added charm. We also love to cook, so a spacious kitchen with large granite countertops, a gas stove, and lots of storage was a must for us.  While we enjoy city life, we wanted to be able to have a spacious garden.  We have been able to grow everything from herbs and arugula to tomatoes and beets right in our urban backyard! We even cancelled our community garden spot this past year because our own space was so fruitful.  This home has also been wonderful for its ability to adapt to our changing needs.  There are three good-sized bedrooms, and the middle one is particularly quiet so it worked perfectly for our baby daughter.  It was also great to have the extra finished room and bathroom in the basement which can function as a guest room, play space or hobby room, and it has served as all three in recent years!

We have lived throughout Philadelphia over the past decade and finally decided to settle in East Passyunk.  It, by far, has the best collection of restaurants and bars in the city.  While there are many families that have lived in this neighborhood for generations, we felt very welcomed into the area.  From chatting with other shoppers at the Wednesday (and Sunday) farmer’s markets to the folks at famous Termini’s bakery giving our daughter her first cookie, East Passyunk has been such an easy place to call home.  Also within just one block, we have The Bok building with one of the coolest bars in the city and the most amazing views.  The Bok has been expanding and now has a coffee bar, exercise and yoga classes, a hair salon, day care and a play space as well as restaurants and many artist studios.  There is also a new park being built right across the street!  We are so sad to miss it, but let our loss be your gain!

I have 2 favorite parts of Society Hill and this property sits right in between them.
#1. Washington Square, according to wiki, was first developed in 1682 as one of the 5  original William Penn planned squares in Philadelphia. Its a much quieter square than the others. Walk over to Talula's Daily grab a fabulous pastry and an espresso then get a park bench and people watch the square. Afterwards walk over to Sweet Charlie's (local boy does good) get an ice cream roll and walk around the square.  Then head to my
#2 Headhouse Square/New Market. The shambles are the site of the very 1st farmer's market in America. Still operating on Saturdays, stop by and grab your local produce.

Now for the good stuff....the dining scene is vibrant and some of the most acclaimed
spots in the city are within walking distance of 521. You will never be disappointed at
Stella Pizza on the Headhouse, bodhi coffee is THE local coffee joint. Positano Coast has been Italian the right way for decades. But if you don't go to ZAHAV you will never know true Israeli Cuisine in America. Michael and his peeps have deep roots and their passion is remarkable.

All of this is outside the door to your new condo! Welcome home.
